If I can describe this last decade to you then it goes like this...
...continuous learning, challenges, emotional challenges, family issues, confusion, business building struggles, excitement, inspiration, motivation, creative bursts, flow state, coaching, teaching, training, speaking, opportunities - local and international, falling and failing - at life, deen, and business, getting back up and succeeding...and some more...
All.That.On.Repeat.
Yes, on repeat - for the whole last decade!
......
By Allah, have I grown in mind, body, soul, spirit, being, or what!
Throughout all of it, you have joined me on this spiritual and personal development journey to become better Muslims and better humans.
You joined me either at the start or when I published my first blog post on this site - Wednesday 7th December 2011 - or some time after.
Are you making each moment count and actively seeking solutions to your challenges and working hard in your worship, studies, work, relationship, life, business?
Are you constantly learning and applying?
Are you making a difference to the lives of others and becoming an asset to humanity which you are meant to be now?
On the Day of Judgment we will stand alone in front of God - all those whom we love and those who we go crazy over will be standing alone too!
Each of us will be accounting for our own life - what we did with it and how we spent our time.
We think we have all the time in the world - but do we really?
How many do we know were here with us a year ago and now they're gone!
Take a moment and picture yourself now on the Day of Judgment standing in front of God alone with your book of deeds and ready to account...
He (God) will say, “How many years did you stay on the earth?” They will say: “We stayed a day or part of a day....” [Quran; 23:112-113]
So i was in my front garden looking at my gorgeous and newly cut hedge when i noticed some dead leaves in there. They were brown and crumpled up and so i decided to clean it up and started picking them out one by one.
As i started to clean it up there seemed to be more buried in the hedge deeply - so i thought OK no worries, let me pick them out too. I continued and as per usual now i was in a rush to get to the end of the hedge so my shoulders dropped and i was like 'urgh, hurry up already' - my gorgeous freshly cut hedge started to feel slightly over-bearing - but i still continued because it was somewhat therapeutic too - you know, how you do things and just let your mind relax to whatever and wonder about...
As i continued i noticed i missed some bits here and there so i went back to pick them out and then this kind of continued for about a few minutes. I kept missing bits or they were buried deep within.
It was at this exact moment i had one of those epiphany/ah-ha/breakthrough moments!
Too many of us are 'suffering' from various challenges (problems/issues). And then we turn to social media for some solace or relief - which can, sometimes, be more detrimental than helpful!
'He said, "I only complain of my suffering and my grief to Allah , and I know from Allah that which you do not know.' [Qur'an; 12:86] partial
Suffering is optional - we have the ability to change our state instantaneously.
The more we 'think' about these things the more our heart is 'clogged' up with the unnecessary.
Energy flows where intention goes.
Where is your intention going? Sure enough that is where your energy is flowing and it is either healthy for you or sucking your life away.
Recently I've been working this whole 'Let Go & Let God!' concept i.e. whilst keeping full tawakul in Allah and working hard, handing it all over to Him (swt) and asking Him (swt) to do the best and being ready and prepared to accept whatever is sent my way.
I have to say i'm in one of my very calm and relaxed modes and allowing whatever to happen, happen.
I'm loving it!
"Indeed, I have turned my face toward He who created the heavens and the earth, inclining toward truth, and I am not of those who associate others with Allah." {Qur'an; 6:79}
You may be hurting right now and it's real painful and no one gets you.
I know how that feels as I'm one of those who always had a challenge expressing my feelings - even to friends.
Oh and then sometimes you get laughed at or ignored - like your issue ain't no big deal.
Today's date - 5th March - is very special for me, my parents, my soul-sistah and her parents and sister too!
What's so special about today's date?
On Monday 5th March 2001 I, alongside a billion other souls, were on the plains of Arafat - for our 'Journey of a Lifetime!
Yes, it was 'our' Hajj Day! :)
My soul-sistah and I (and her sister too) first met on the coach, outside our mosque. I had previously visited Mecca and Medina - well 6 months previously (summer 2000) and our relatives went with us - their daughters were a few years younger than me and we were there for two weeks. I had friends!
This time round we would be there for a month and although we went with a big group I didn't know anyone and as soon as I got on to the coach I saw my soul-sistah and her sister, we all smiled at each other and I said to my mum; 'Ami, ami - look - my new friends!' - and the rest is history! Lol.
"Friendship isn't about whom you have known the longest, it's about who came, and never left your side." Unknown
So anyways, I thought today share a post I previously wrote during Hajj season a few years ago as this topic is our daily topic and not just for special seasons like Ramadan or Hajj.
Are YOU feeling an emaan-low right now?
Are YOU in need of a quick spiritual fix right now??
Want some instant heart and soul therapy???
Well, read on and apply these 7 steps now.
And in fact Ramadan is about 3 months away - so let's prepare for it now insha'Allah! :)
I talk and post personal and spiritual development stuff for y'all and I actually work on mine daily too - i'm a work in progress just like you :)
So in the essence of my daily development I have just accepted the '10 Day Mental Challenge' (whilst reading Tony Robbins book 'Re-Awaken the Giant Within') to be committed to putting myself and keeping myself in a passionately positive state, no matter what happens.
This is a 'Mental-Diet-Detox'!
Welcome to the Challenge.
So, here are 10 steps how we will go on our 'Mental-Detox-Diet'.
Ready to accept this challenge?
Awesome, keep reading! :)
The 10 Steps to a Mental-Detox-Diet:
1. Grab a journal or pen/pencil or your online device - this is going to be our friend for the next 10 days. We will write our thoughts, our challenges and our reflection moments. Write empowering statements for yourself as well as positive 'how-to' questions.
2. Go easy on Social media - OK, so I would say 'Go on a 10 day social media fast'however, we are in this together and I need to use social media for the next 10 days to keep up to date with this post, facebook updates on the pages as well as twitter, linkedin, blogpost and pinterest (yup, i'm everywhere!) and an upcoming eBook. So I need to use social media in the next 10 days.
If you want to go on a social media fast then go for it - otherwise minimise your usage and replace it with article or book reading.
"You say that you are just a body, but inside of you is something greater than the Universe." Imam Shafi (rahimullah)
Today's post is about a topic which is so great that I'm not at all qualified to go into depths.
It is about the 'Soul'.
Although I read a lot and share what I read, I will only touch the surface of this topic.
What I will cover is the 'Personal Development' part for us so we can start making at least some basic changes in our lives insha'Allah.
We are spiritual beings living in physical bodies - both need taking care of. Our soul needs ibaadah (worship) and our body needs the right foods and exercise. When both the soul and body are aligned - we are at an overall state of peace and ease.
But when either one of them is misaligned then we are at dis-ease.
How many of us experience this state of peace - daily?
How many of us experience this peace at all?
Why is it that we are not at peace, ease and are at dis-ease?
Its different for all of us in practical terms but in theoretical terms its all the same.
Our day to day is full of alsorts. The good, the bad and the not so pretty.
We have billions of thoughts going around in our head daily.
Whilst our conscious mind may be focused at the task at hand (maybe - if we are actually focusing) our subconscious is roaming freely like its been given a permanent free will visa!
We get so busy in our day to day that for many of us taking out 5 minutes just to 'chill'becomes a weird concept that only those who are in meditative lands do.
And even if we do take out 5 mins, its usually not to take a breather.
In short, we don't take time out to heal our heart and soul.
We don't take time out to reflect and change our ways.
We may even reflect - but reflection on its own doesn't do us much good if we don't follow through on some good actions or positive changes.
Let's admit it now - we spend more time on our bodily health than our soulful health.
***Testimonials from Sisters who have worked with Nadia in a Coaching, Mentoring & Healing Session!***
"I had been feeling somewhat lost and confused with myself as I have so many business ideas I would like to achieve but also a family to look after. I wasn't sure who to really turn to and qadrullah I was able to receive coaching from Nadia. MashAllah she is very willing to give up her free time often willing to speak for hours at a time. She is often open and honest at the same time as encouraging. She has believed in me when my family and even I doubted myself. She is clearly more than able to inspire and motivate.
